First the blog has moved to here.

I have had a lot of new inquiries about The Wrap. The colors that were on this blog are mostly unavailable now. But we are currently collecting new colors and textures for more wraps. The Wrap generally sells out in a matter of 1-3 hours when we post 50 or so. If you are serious about trying to get a wrap, please add your name on the mailing list and you will be notified as soon as new wraps are available.

We are taking pre-orders on the {cocoon}. I will posting new images and colorways in the next few days.

Thank you all for your interest and patience. We are excited about our products and could have never anticipated such demand. Once we get a handle on the demand we hope things will begin to run smooother!

hmmm....a new design?

I have been playing with new ideas lately. And this one I seem to love. It is a little more involved than the original "Wrap". But I think the effect is just beautiful. They will be offered in several color ways, the samples are still in process and will be posted when they become available for sale.

I would love some comments and feedback on the new look!

Availability Update

Well, we are almost through the newest batch of orders. Thank you all, we were slightly overwhelmed, but gratefully so.

It did not go without any glitches though. Since all of our yarns were pre-ordered before we began pre-selling, but it turns out that our supplier neglected to tell us that they were back ordered on the Cornflower color. We have been dealing with them for the last two weeks, and have since found some new suppliers. The other colors are just about complete and will be getting into the mail this week (except Cornflower).

We have also learned that the rest of the colors in the similar yarn have been discontinued. So this will be the end of that line. Sorbet, Fawn, Jade, Cornflower and Poppy will no longer be available. We have over ordered some, and will make those availabls once we get them. You all will be notified when those are available.

Espresso and Vanilla will still be available for now. You will get a newsletter when we begin taking new orders.

Orders Stopped!

Phew....you guys are keeping me busy! I have been processing orders ALL day!

I am going to have to stop taking orders for now. My suppliers are running low, and I need to take stock and see what I can get a hold of. Also I have to make sure I can get them all done!

Currently we are on schedule for delivery by the end of the month. I have just processed the last orders. If you got your email today with your reservation your order is in, and will be processed.

Once I take stock and know how much more yarn I can get I will send out an email letting you know that orders are being taken again.

In the meantime, if you have not currently contacted me, be sure to subscribe to the Newsletter. You will be informed this way when more items are available.

I love The Wrap myself. Since using it, my new customers request it for their sessions, and over 50 wraps have already been sold around the world.

The Colors & How to Order

Thank you all for sharing the info about my wraps. It turns out that people are finding their way to {the blog} searching to find the wraps. So here goes the colors and information about the wraps.

"This little wrap was created for my own use for my photography business. I had a busy summer with newborns and searched high and low for blankets with great texture and color. Finally resorting to my love of knitting and crocheting, I decided to make my own.

The Wrap is created out of a fun, chunky, textured and soft yarn. I have purposely created is small. It will measure (give or take) 24" by 24". The reason for the small nature is that it is to be used with newborns and I wanted to omit the extra bulk of other blankets, scarves, etc. This is just big enough to stretch and swaddle a newborn and tuck under without appear too bulky, but still retaining its amazing texture. It has a lot of stretch and loose crochet to allow for skin to show through and retain a unique look. As you can see from the photos this looks wonderful in color and black and white.

The New Espresso & Vanilla

There are more new ones to come. Once my busy season slows down more I will be able to get more samples made.

This is wrap is a bit different then the last. It is loose knit instead of crochet. I sell a scarflette out of the same yarn and it does very well. The images are of the Vanilla but I am also offering an espresso. For those looking for natural colors this is the wrap for you.

The yarn is has various thicknesses throughout from thick to thin creating lots of texture. The loose knit also adds to the dimension of this wrap. I apologize for the doll baby model, but my newborns are in mid December and January!

This little wrap still has all the stretch and wrapping capabilities of the original.

Barefoot Photography and The Wrap

I just received a wonderful email from Kimberly of
Barefoot Photography. And this is what she had to say...

"I got a chance to use the wrap today, and it was better than I thought it would be. I must say when I first got it I was surprised at how small it was, but you’re right, in this case I think less is better."

Kimberly ordered the Fawn wrap (one that I haven't had the chance to play with yet) and has shared her stunning images with me to share with you. You can also see more of her work on her Blog.

I would like to take this moment to tell you again my inspiration for the wrap. I had a need for texture with my newborns and being the yarn addict I am, I turned to the thing I new best that had texture. First I tried scarves, but the cumbersome wrapping of a long skinny thing around a sleepy newborn was challenging at best. I also tried chunky textured throws, but finding way to tuck and hide all the extra bulk was also very difficult. So I decided to just make something that was just right **for some reason the 3 Bears story just popped in my head :)** so I made The Wrap for myself. It is not big, and most are surprised when they get it (as you read in Kimberly's quote). But that is the intention of The Wrap. It was designed just big enough for a newborn. To swaddle and tuck with out the length of a scarf or the bulk of a blanket/throw. It worked perfectly for me on several occasions, and now my clients request it.

Current Wrap Orders

Hi everyone! I want to thank you all for ordering my Wrap. The response has been crazy and totally unexpected. If you ordered The Wrap in November and have not recieved it yet. They are all shipping on Monday November 26th. If you are in the US it will ship Priority Mail, otherwise it will ship First Class Mail. The holidays added a slight delay in the last group. My additional yarn was nearly a week late, and then shipping over this weekend was going to be crazy, so I have had to wait until Monday.

If you have not ordered The Wrap yet, and have been added to the mailing list, a new batch will be listed in December. I am trying hard to close out my Holiday Photography sessions and need to focus on that at the moment. I will send out an email as soon as more are listed.

the wrap - sample wrappings

I took a few moments this weekend to get some sample "how to wrap" images. I have several sessions this weekend so the images are not fabulous and my daughters Bitty Baby had to be my newborn. Before you get concerned that the doll is smaller than a real baby I took this into account. Bitty is 15" head to toe. An average newborn is around 17-21" uncurled. So bitty is probably larger (in length) than a curled or swaddled newborn. I also wrapped the wrap very loose with stretch room to spare for a larger newborn. The wrap may look small, but it has a lot of stretch to it. I used a bean bag and a black cloth for the back ground. White looks very good with the Fawn color.

Example 1- Lay wrap on bean bag or surface of choice with corners at top and bottom.Lightly wrap is around babies face. This will get adjusted along the way. Remember there is stretch. Once the baby is wrapped you can pull the material to make it looser around the face.

Fold one half of the wrap across

Wrap other half and tuck and adjust as needed.

Wrap example -2

Lay wrap in square to surface material. Lay baby.

Tuck and push wrap under edges of baby. Be sure to curl those little legs up for cuter look. I kep Bitty long to show that there is still room for a real baby (and she doesn't curl so good :) )

Wrap example-3

Lay wrap with points at top and bottom again.

Wrap side across and leave feet stretched out.

Tuck the hands up by face for another variation.

Wrap example - 4

Lay wrap down and fold top corner down towards middle.

Wrapping Instructions

Due to popular demand visual wrapping instructions will be coming soon. I have heard from a few people that they invisioned a pouch or baggie. My original train of thought for this started with a pouch idea. But the legistics of getting a sleeping newborn in to a baggie were too complicated. I designed the wrap (as simple as it seems) to be just the right size to wrap a newborn up without extra bulk, layers, or fabric to hid or tuck. The exact same wrap was used in the images that I have done, so I can assure you that it will work.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns about your wrap. I have enjoyed making them, and have some new ideas coming after this next batch of orders.
